Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Installation and Maintenance: You will be responsible for the professional installation, routine servicing, and preventative maintenance of milking and dairy equipment.
• Emergency Breakdown Response: This role requires attending to critical equipment failures and emergency breakdowns, often during early morning milking times, to minimize downtime for the farmer.
• Technical Fault Diagnosis: You will utilize your expertise to diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical faults within dairy systems.
• Staff Training and Hygiene: A key part of the role involves training farm staff on the correct use of equipment and implementing hygiene practices to ensure milk safety.
• Customer Relationship Management: You will focus on building strong, long-term relationships with dairy farmers and providing basic sales assistance to help them find the right solutions for their needs.
• Operational Administration: Responsibilities include managing your own spares stock and accurately completing job cards for all service and repair tasks.

Minimum Requirements

• Red seal – Millwright or Electrician
• A valid Code B driver’s licence is essential for travel to rural farm sites.
• Proven ability to work independently and unsupervised in rural farming environments.
• Physically fit and comfortable with the demands of early morning call-outs.
• Previous experience in the dairy or agricultural industry is considered a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Electrical and Solar Systems Management: Perform technical work and maintenance on 220V and 380V electrical systems, as well as specialized solar power installations.
• System Automation and Control: Manage and troubleshoot advanced automation components, including Star/Delta starters, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Irrigation and Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the installation and repair of water pumps and flow meters, while ensuring the integrity of irrigation pipelines.

About the Role

They are an established agricultural enterprise with diverse operations across several production units, celebrating their centenary in 2019 as a family business. Their operations include citrus, pecan nut production, and grain production in both the Highveld and Northern Cape regions. They are committed to social development, with a long history of community involvement, aiming to remain a "blessing to their people, community and country."

This operation includes approximately 1,300 hectares of citrus orchards located in the Groblersdal/Marble Hall area (Moosrivier). The citrus produced is primarily cultivated for international export markets.

They offer an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Orchard Manager to play a key role in the day-to-day management of production activities. This dynamic position involves assisting in the daily management of production activities under the guidance of a skilled Orchard Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Production Management Oversight Leading and coordinating crucial seasonal tasks, including harvesting, summer pruning, and fruit set/harvest manipulations.
• Program Implementation Implementing essential agricultural schedules, such as fertilisation, irrigation, and spraying programmes.
• Workforce Leadership Coordinating and managing both contractors and the seasonal workforce required for operations.
• Quality Analysis & Reporting Analysing feedback related to quality and reporting on any observed operational irregularities.
• Administrative Support Assisting the Orchard Manager in maintaining required reports and compiling operational budgets.
• Fleet Maintenance Scheduling Scheduling routine maintenance for the operational fleet vehicles.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Diploma/Any Trade from Sol-Tech, or currently studying towards such a qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in an environment where teamwork and productivity are essential, preferably within agriculture.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English; proficiency in Sepedi will be advantageous.
