About the Role
They are seeking a qualified and reliable Millwright to join their maintenance team in the industrial sector. It specializes in the responsible and sustainable processing of industrial ferrous and non-ferrous metals, obsolete telecommunications cables, and scrap copper power cables that have reached the end of their functional life. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring optimal equipment performance, reliability, and safety throughout the plant. The company utilizes cutting-edge recycling technologies and maintains world-class operational standards, operating under a philosophy focused on conserving natural resources through complete and environmentally friendly recycling practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Execution: Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on granulation machinery, shredders, balers, and conveyors.
- Equipment Installation: Assemble, align, install, and dismantle industrial equipment based on technical drawings and specifications.
- Fault Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults efficiently to minimize operational downtime.
- Component Repair: Execute repairs and replacements for mechanical components, including shafts, pumps, gearboxes, and bearings.
- Compliance and Inspection: Inspect and maintain mechanical systems to ensure alignment with operational efficiency and safety standards.
- Fabrication Support: Fabricate, weld, and modify necessary parts to support production and maintenance operations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain precise records regarding service reports, maintenance work completed, and usage of parts.
Qualifications & Experience
- Red Seal Trade Test Certificate (Millwright).
- Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience in an industrial or recycling environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial machinery and systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as mechanical fault-finding techniques.
- Familiarity with OHS Act requirements and SANS standards, demonstrating safety-consciousness.
- Competency in welding and fabrication abilities (MIG, TIG, or arc).
