As a Millwright, you will be responsible for performing electromechanical maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and continuous improvement activities across production and utility equipment. You will work closely with maintenance and production teams to maximise equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and support efficient plant operations.
This position offers valuable exposure to modern manufacturing systems, preventative maintenance programmes, automation technologies, and large-scale production operations within one of South Africa’s leading FMCG organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs:
- Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on plant machinery and equipment
- Assemble, install, test, maintain, and repair electromechanical equipment
- Conduct fault finding and diagnose equipment failures efficiently
- Perform breakdown repairs to minimise production downtime
- Complete job cards and maintenance documentation accurately
Equipment Reliability & Continuous Improvement:
- Maintain and repair production equipment to ensure optimal reliability and availability
- Conduct machine condition assessments and analyse equipment failures
- Perform root cause analysis on production, steam, refrigeration, and water systems
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability
- Carry out equipment modifications and improvement initiatives where required
Production Support:
- Provide technical support to maintenance and production teams
- Assist in increasing machine availability and operational efficiency
- Support plant reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
Preventative Maintenance:
- Conduct inspections and testing in accordance with prescribed maintenance schedules
- Execute planned preventative maintenance activities
- Ensure process control systems and software backups are maintained and updated
Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to company safety standards, policies, and procedures
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history
- Work safely in production environments, including confined spaces and challenging operating conditions
- Participate in continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Trade Test Certificate: Millwright (Red Seal)
- Relevant maintenance experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Experience in FMCG manufacturing will be advantageous
- PLC exposure and fault-finding experience will be advantageous
- Valid Code 08 Driver’s Licence
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required
- Comfortable working in industrial production environments and confined spaces
