About the Role

They are an established agricultural enterprise with diverse operations across several production units, celebrating their centenary in 2019 as a family business. Their operations include citrus, pecan nut production, and grain production in both the Highveld and Northern Cape regions. They are committed to social development, with a long history of community involvement, aiming to remain a "blessing to their people, community and country."

This operation includes approximately 1,300 hectares of citrus orchards located in the Groblersdal/Marble Hall area (Moosrivier). The citrus produced is primarily cultivated for international export markets.

They offer an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Orchard Manager to play a key role in the day-to-day management of production activities. This dynamic position involves assisting in the daily management of production activities under the guidance of a skilled Orchard Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Management Oversight Leading and coordinating crucial seasonal tasks, including harvesting, summer pruning, and fruit set/harvest manipulations.
  • Program Implementation Implementing essential agricultural schedules, such as fertilisation, irrigation, and spraying programmes.
  • Workforce Leadership Coordinating and managing both contractors and the seasonal workforce required for operations.
  • Quality Analysis & Reporting Analysing feedback related to quality and reporting on any observed operational irregularities.
  • Administrative Support Assisting the Orchard Manager in maintaining required reports and compiling operational budgets.
  • Fleet Maintenance Scheduling Scheduling routine maintenance for the operational fleet vehicles.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Open to any Trade from Sol-Tech.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an environment where teamwork and productivity are essential, preferably within agriculture.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Fluent in Afrikaans and English; proficiency in Sepedi will be advantageous.
