About the Role: This is a unique opportunity for qualified Millwrights and Electricians to join a specialised upskilling programme designed to fast-track their careers beyond standard maintenance roles. Successful candidates will receive hands-on training on advanced automated packhouse machinery within modern citrus environments and will travel to various packhouses across South Africa as part of their development.

The programme runs over a 12 year training / internship period, after which candidates will transition into a permanent contract. The role offers exposure to complex automation systems, with potential international training opportunities in Spain and France for suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Automation Operation: Assist with the daily operation of specialized sizer and automation systems.
  • Machine Calibration: Learn the technical setup, calibration, and basic automation controls of advanced machinery.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Support routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Fault-Finding: Assist with both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and fault-finding processes.
  • Production Workflow: Gain practical exposure to packhouse workflows, equipment handling, and overall production processes.
  • Safety and Quality Control: Assist in maintaining high-quality control and safety standards across all operations.
  • Professional Development: Develop essential reporting, communication, and problem-solving skills while participating in basic project tasks.

Requirements:

  • Red seal Millwright or Electrician
  • Strong interest in machinery, automation, and industrial systems.
  • Valid drivers licence and a willingness to travel both locally and internationally.
  • Willingness to work in a packhouse environment and adapt to seasonal demands.
  • Ability to take ownership and work well without constant supervision.
  • Practical maintenance experience and PLC exposure will be considered advantageous.
