About the role:
The company is seeking a Junior Field Technician to join a global distribution network specializing in hardware and software solutions for the construction and mining industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the implementation of products that enable digitally “connected” sites, with a strong focus on increasing productivity and safety while reducing rework.
This role requires taking ownership of customer issues and driving them through to a timeous resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Product Implementation: Manage all field-based delivery of products and solutions, ensuring they are tested and signed off by the customer to ensure complete satisfaction.
Field Support: Drive continuous repairs and maintenance through regular site visits and provide high-quality troubleshooting support both in-person and telephonically.
Product Training: Deliver operator training to customers regarding all newly implemented or upgraded products and solutions to ensure effective use of technology.
Issue Management: Accurately log and report all customer issues while managing a personal field dispatch schedule to meet service requirements.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Millwright Qualification
- A minimum of 1 year of proven experience in product implementation and field service; experience in the Geospatial industry is a distinct advantage.
- Advanced ability to troubleshoot, repair, and service technical equipment, including high-precision instruments like robotic total stations.
- Excellent verbal and non-verbal skills are necessary to provide technical help and build supportive customer relationships.
- A valid driver’s license is mandatory for travel to client sites.
- Willingness to travel extensively internationally, primarily within Africa, and remain away from home on a regular basis.
- Capacity to meet the physical demands and operational requirements of the role.
