About the Role

We are seeking a recently qualified Electrician or Millwright to join a dynamic manufacturing facility located in Phoenix, Durban. This is a broad, hands-on role providing multi-disciplinary exposure across both production and laboratory environments within a plant focused on specialised industrial coatings, lubricants, and polymer technologies.

In this position, you will be responsible for general electrical and mechanical upkeep, routine preventative servicing, breakdown support, and infrastructure maintenance across a diverse array of equipment. This role is ideal for an artisan who enjoys troubleshooting, fault finding, and getting involved across different operational areas of a plant.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Plant Maintenance: Perform broad electrical and mechanical maintenance duties across production areas and laboratory facilities.
  • Preventative Servicing: Execute routine preventative maintenance schedules to ensure all plant machinery and equipment run effectively.
  • Breakdown Support & Fault Finding: Attend to equipment breakdowns promptly and carry out systematic fault finding on laboratory and production machinery.
  • Equipment Overhaul & Repair: Maintain and repair specialized plant machinery, including compressors, generators, mixers, milling equipment, boilers, and ovens.
  • Mechanical Component Upkeep: Work with bearings, execute component replacements, and carry out general mechanical repairs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and suggest practical opportunities to improve equipment performance, maintenance routines, and manufacturing processes.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Assist with maintaining general factory infrastructure and building upkeep where required.
  • Spare Parts Management: Monitor critical spare parts stock levels and communicate spare requirements to internal teams.
  • Maintenance Administration: Accurately complete maintenance records, job cards, checklists, and routine documentation.
  • SHEQ Compliance: Perform all maintenance activities safely in strict accordance with health, safety, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards.

 

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Trade Tested Electrician or Millwright.
  • 0 to 3 years of post-trade experience
  • Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance abilities with solid fault-finding skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment across factory floors and laboratories.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, safety-conscious, and able to take full ownership of assigned tasks.
