About the Role
They are seeking a proactive problem-solver with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude to join their team as an Electrical Field Technician. This is a crucial, customer-facing role focused on ensuring the optimal operation of complex concrete manufacturing equipment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of various high-productivity machinery. This includes equipment used for concrete brick, block, and paver production; pre-cast concrete products such as roof tiles and kerbstones; as well as batching plants, including counter-current and turbine pan mixers.
The role requires extensive travel to customer sites—both locally and internationally—to provide expert technical support and ensure minimal downtime for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- On-Site Installation: Perform the installation, calibration, and commissioning of new concrete manufacturing machinery and systems at customer locations.
- Advanced Fault Diagnosis: Conduct detailed fault-finding and advanced troubleshooting to efficiently diagnose and resolve electrical, PLC, and pneumatic issues.
- Technical Interpretation: Read, interpret, and analyze electrical schematic drawings, pneumatic diagrams, and relevant technical manuals to guide repairs and modifications.
- Preventative Maintenance: Execute required preventative maintenance services to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of client equipment.
- Client Communication: Act as the primary technical contact on-site, offering exceptional customer service and clearly communicating solutions to clients.
- Detailed Reporting: Complete comprehensive service reports, accurately documenting all work performed and parts utilized in a timely manner.
- Safety Adherence: Strictly adhere to all company and customer site safety protocols and procedures while working.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with engineering teams by providing feedback from the field to contribute to ongoing product improvement efforts.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Must possess a Red Seal Section 26D qualification. – Electrician
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Electrical.
- Required skills include PLC knowledge and Pneumatic Experience. Experience with specific systems like Beckhoff and Festo (PLC types) and Beckhoff and Wonderware (SCADA Systems) is relevant.
- Must be willing to travel extensively, both locally and internationally, which may involve trips lasting from a few days to several weeks. A valid passport is required for international travel.
- Overtime is a given when installing plants, requiring long hours at times.
- Must have good people skills.
- Must be capable of working without supervision, while also effectively collaborating as part of a team on larger installations.
- Must possess, or be able to acquire, First Aid, Fire fighting, and Working-at-height certifications.
- Must be a non-smoker.
