Job Description
About the Role: This position is designed for a hands-on Diesel Mechanic eager to gain valuable field service experience within an industry focused on civil contracting, borehole equipping, and water reticulation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the on-site maintenance and repair of diesel-powered machinery. This role offers significant technical development, specifically providing exposure and training on earthmoving equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-site Diagnostics: Perform fault finding and technical diagnostics on various diesel equipment to identify operational issues.
- Preventative Maintenance: Carry out routine repairs and scheduled servicing to ensure the longevity of machinery.
- Small Plant Servicing: Maintain and repair critical small equipment, including water pumps, generators, and compactors.
- Earthmoving Equipment Support: Assist with the specialized servicing of earthmoving machinery under provided expert training.
- Safety Inspections: Test and inspect all equipment to confirm it meets safety standards for efficient field operation.
- Operational Reporting: Document equipment conditions and maintain accurate service records for management review.
- Independent Field Work: Manage tasks independently on various sites, adapting effectively to changing work environments.
Requirements:
- Red Seal Trade Test Certificate as a Diesel Mechanic.
- A minimum of 1–2 years of experience post-trade qualification.
- Basic experience in the repair and maintenance of diesel-powered equipment.
- A strong willingness to learn and grow within a specialized field service environment.
- Valid Code 08 driver’s license and a willingness to relocate to the Mahikeng area.
