About the Role:
The company is a well-established leader in the corrugated packaging industry, with over 30 years of manufacturing expertise and a large-scale production facility based in Pretoria. They are seeking a qualified Fitter & Turner with a primary focus on the tuning function.
Although employed within a leading packaging manufacturing environment, this role plays a critical part in the company’s internal maintenance operations, ensuring that high-volume production machinery and specialised components are maintained at optimal performance levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lathe Operation: Expertly operate manual centre lathes (CNC experience is advantageous) to produce precision components.
- Component Manufacturing and Repair: Manufacture, modify, and repair a wide range of parts, from very small to very large dimensions, ensuring high levels of accuracy.
- Specialized Machining Tasks: Perform essential technical tasks including thread cutting, drilling, facing, knurling, and shaft work.
- Technical Drawing Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret complex engineering drawings to guide the manufacturing and repair process.
- Precision Measurement: Utilize various measuring tools, such as verniers, micrometers, and dial gauges, to maintain strict tolerances.
- Industrial Material Handling: Work confidently with various metal types typically used in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Plant Maintenance Support: Apply technical fitting and turning skills to support the ongoing maintenance and reliability of plant equipment.
Requirements:
- Qualified Fitter and Turner.
- Proven practical experience and knowledge in precision turning, machining, and component manufacturing.
- Ability to maintain high standards of workmanship and accuracy.
- Candidates should preferably reside close to Pretoria West/Kirkney due to potential shift work.
